Senior Economist

German Caruso is a senior economist working for the World Bank at the Poverty Global Practice. His work focuses on assessing the socio-economic impact of aggregate shocks and policy reforms, and on advising policy makers about poverty and inequality reduction policies. He has experience on these topics in countries such as El Salvador, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Belize, Burkina Faso, and Mozambique. German has published articles in scientific journals such as the Journal of Development Economics, the American Economic Review, the Review of Income and Wealth, the European Journal of Political Economy and Oxford Economic Papers. His educational background includes a PhD in Economics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in addition to both Master's and Licentiate degrees in Economics from the Universidad de San Andres, Argentina.
