Germán Caruso is a Senior Economist at the World Bank’s Human Capital Project, where he leads the agenda on Climate Change and Human Capital, as well as the Human Capital data and knowledge agenda. With twelve years of experience, he has collaborated with governments worldwide on poverty reduction, migration policies, and human capital accumulation. His expertise encompasses poverty alleviation policies, the immediate and intergenerational impacts of shocks (such as weather shocks, armed conflicts, and economic crises) on human capital, and the socio-economic implications of fiscal policy. Germán has published articles in scientific journals such as the Journal of Development Economics, the American Economic Review, the Review of Income and Wealth, the European Journal of Political Economy, World Development, Oxford Economic Papers. He is currently serving as Associate Editor for Climatic Change. Germán received his PhD in Economics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
