Gianluigi Nico is an economist in the World Bank’s Jobs Group. He has worked extensively on methodological approaches to estimate global employment in small-scale fisheries, including the economic value generated by small-scale fisheries, using individual-level microdata extrapolated from labor force surveys. His main interests include the analysis of labor market dynamics in agriculture and fisheries and their interconnectedness with poverty and the food system, within a changing climate environment. Gianluigi holds a PhD in Economics and Statistics from the University of Chieti-Pescara (Italy).
