Gitanjali Kumar is a Senior Economist in the Prospects Group of the World Bank. Her work focuses on surveillance of global financial markets and the East Asia and Pacific region. She is one of the lead authors of the World Bank’s flagship Global Economic Prospects report. In this report, she also examines cross-regional trends across emerging market and developing economies. Prior to joining the World Bank, she worked at the Bank of Canada for 13 years. She held a range of roles in the Financial Markets and International Departments, where she provided advice on monetary policy and global macroeconomic issues. She also served as the associate editor of the Bank of Canada’s Financial Stability Report. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
