Guilherme de Falco has more than 10 years of professional experience working on competition policy and sector regulation issues. He provides analytics and policy advice on (i) boosting antitrust framework and implementation and (ii) identifying and reforming a wide range of potentially anti-competitive government interventions, including restrictive sector regulation, discriminatory trade policies, pervasive price controls, and lack of competitive neutrality associated with state aid and state-owned enterprises. His work experience cuts across several regions, covering Middle East, North and Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, East Europe, and Central Asia, as well as a wide range of sectors such as transport, telecommunications, tourism, and agriculture. Guilherme also engages with other international organizations on creating knowledge and promoting peer to peer learning opportunities, such as UNCTAD, OECD, International Competition Network and Africa Competition Forum.  Before joining the World Bank, Guilherme practiced competition law and worked on economic consulting in Brazil and practiced anticorruption and corporate compliance law in the U.S. He holds a LL.M from Columbia University, NY, a MA in economics from Federal University of São Carlos, Brazil, a BA in economics from University of São Paulo, Brazil, and a Bachelor in Laws from Catholic University of São Paulo, Brazil.
