Gunes Basat is a knowledge management consultant at the World Bank. She is supporting communities of practice and teams on different topics, including smart cities, urbanscapes, transit-oriented development, solid waste management, territorial development, and productivity, all within the Bank's Urban, Disaster Risk Management, Resilience and Land Global Practice. She has a background in journalism and previously worked at the Al Jazeera network in Istanbul and Doha. Gunes holds an M.A. degree in Media Culture and Communications from New York University.
