Senior Poverty Economist in the Poverty and Equity Practice and Global Lead for the Global Solutions Group for the Distributional Impacts of Fiscal and Social Policies

Gustavo Canavire-Bacarreza is a senior poverty economist in the Poverty and Equity Practice and global lead for the Global Solutions Group for the Distributional Impacts of Fiscal and Social Policies. He works in the Latin America and Caribbean Region in topics related to poverty, inequality, fiscal policy, gender, statistical development and impact evaluation. He currently leads the poverty and equity program in Ecuador and contributes to Mexico, Haiti, Chile and is part of the poverty LAC Statistical Team. Previously he worked at the Inter-American Development Bank, Universidad EAFIT in Colombia, Georgia State University, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and the Government of Bolivia. He is a member of the institute of labor economics (IZA) and member of the Bolivian Academy of Economic Sciences.
