Harry Garretsen

Harry Garretsen got his BSc and MSc in economics (cum laude) from the University of Groningen where he also did his PhD on the economics of Keynes and the micro-foundation of macroeconomics. After a short period as senior-policy advisor at the Dutch central bank, he became professor of economic theory and economic policy at the Radboud University Nijmegen (1996-2002) and then professor of international economics at Utrecht University (2002-2008). Since September 2008, he is professor of international economics and business at the University of Groningen. His main research is (international) economics and geography. Garretsen was visiting scholar at Yale, Princeton and the University of Munich. Currently, he is also affiliated with the University of Cambridge as a visiting fellow to St Catharine’s college as well as to Dept. of Land Economy. He is a research fellow of SOM, NAKE and the CESifo institute and is or has been (guest)editor of various international journals.
