Huma Kidwai is a Senior Education Specialist, leading basic education and women empowerment projects in Rwanda and Somalia. Huma has authored publications on comparative education research and practice, particularly on participatory action research in education, teacher professional development, school-based violence, faith-based education, and country education systems benchmarking and diagnostics. Huma first joined the Bank in 2006 as a research assistant with the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Network, and since then has supported lending operations and analytical work in the Education Global Practice mainly in East Asia and the Pacific, and the East African countries. Huma has a doctoral degree from Columbia University, master’s in education policy from Harvard University, and master’s in child development from Delhi University.
