Ignacio Urrutia serves as a Senior Disaster Risk Management Specialist based in the World Bank’s office in Bangkok, Thailand. He leads several lending and technical assistance projects in South Asia with a focus on resilient infrastructure, disaster risk management, and climate change. Ignacio has been with the World Bank for over 10 years, first in the Social Development, and in the Water, Urban, and Disaster Risk Management units in the Latin America and the Caribbean region and since 2013 in South Asia´s Climate Change & Disaster Risk Management unit. He brings experience on a range of sectors and countries including flood protection and drainage in Argentina, water supply and sanitation in Peru, post-disaster reconstruction in India and Nepal, and coastal resilience and fragile situations in Bangladesh. He holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Columbia University in New York and a BSc in Business Administration from the Catholic University of Asunción, Paraguay.
