Ilka Funke is a Specialist for Financial Inclusion at the World Bank Group, with focus on the Latin America Region. Her experience includes analyzing gaps and core barriers for financial inclusion on a country level, supporting governments in developing financial inclusion strategies, channel conditional cash transfers through the formal financial system, and helping introduce modern technology for financial service delivery. Together with Juan Buchenau, she is the co-task team leader of the recently created Community of Practice for Cooperative Financial Institutions. She has also worked in the FSAP unit, and in the Bank’s Independent Evaluation Group, as well as in Expert credit insurance in Germany. In her private time, she is teaching financial literacy at a NGO in Washington, DC.
