Isabel Blackett is a Senior Sanitation and Water Specialist in the World Bank Global Water Practice - Water and Sanitation Program, working with the global urban sanitation team. Before joining the Bank she worked as an urban sanitation specialist and team leader for UK Department for International Development, DFID (in South Africa 1995-2000), KfW (Lesotho 1985-1990), UNICEF, SANDEC, other bi-lateral development agencies and for the private sector and NGOs. In 2005 she joined the World Bank in Jakarta, Indonesia and has focused on improving national policies and practice for implementing poor-inclusive water and sanitation services in urban areas in Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific and recently in India. Since 2011 she has also worked on the global urban sanitation agenda including fecal sludge management.
