Ismail H. Genc is professor of economics at the American University of Sharjah, Sharjah, UAE. He received his PhD in economics from the Texas A&M University. He was at the University of Idaho, as associate professor with tenure. His expertise is broadly in applied monetary economics, economic development, and remittances. He is the co-author of a book “Expats and the Labor Force: The Story of the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries"and several journal articles and book chapters. His work has been cited by national and international media outlets including The National, Gulf News and New York Times.
