Senior Private Sector Specialist

Mrs. Iva Hamel, a Bulgarian national, is a Senior Private Sector Specialist with the Global Business Regulation Unit in the Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation (FCI) Global Practice. She is the global lead for the Women, Business and the Law Reform Advisory. She has led successful business environment reform programs in MENA, ECA, SAR. She joined the World Bank in 2005 in the World Bank Institute’s Finance and Private Sector Development Unit. Between 2009 and 2019, she worked as a Senior Private Sector Specialist in the global Investment Climate Unit of the Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation Global Practice, overseeing business environment reform projects in ECA, MENA and EAP. Prior to joining the World Bank, Iva worked as a management consultant in Cambridge, MA, USA. She holds an MA in International Finance and Economics from Johns Hopkins University (SAIS), and a BA in Economics and International Relations from Colby College, USA.
