Iva Trako is an Economist and the Education Program Coordinator in the Development Impact Evaluation (DIME) department of the World Bank. Her main research interests include gender, education, and social protection. A large part of her current research studies the underlying causes of social and economic barriers that women and girls face in developing countries and explores innovative solutions to improve their welfare. In particular, she is interested in the role of social norms, formal and informal institutions, and public policy in preventing and mitigating gender-based violence. Another strand of her research examines issues on human capital and skills, girls education, and the impact of policies and programs to improve human development outcomes. Iva also collaborates in DIME’s partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) on designing humanitarian assistance interventions and improving targeting mechanisms. Iva holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Paris School of Economics.
