Joseph Simumba is an economist in the Macroeconomics, Trade, and Investment (MTI) Global Practice at the World Bank Country Office in Lusaka. Since joining the Bank in January 2022, his focus is centered around macroeconomic monitoring, fiscal and public debt analytics, support to macroeconomic reforms, and tracking credit risk developments. He has worked on delivering a programmatic development policy lending, macroeconomic forecasting, public finance review, country growth and jobs diagnostics, and supporting sustainable development financing policy implementation. More recently, he has contributed to the preparation of a new World Bank Country Partnership Framework for Zambia. Before joining the Bank, he worked for the Bank of Zambia as a Senior Economist. He graduated from the University of Cape Town with expertise in quantitative economic modeling.
