Dr. Jitendra Kumar has been the Managing Director, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), Department of Biotechnology, Government of India since 2023. He holds a PhD degree in Biotechnology from the Institute of Microbial Technology, Chandigarh and an MBA degree from the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University in the United States.
He was the Vice-President of the Life Sciences Innovation at IKP Knowledge Park in Hyderabad where he was actively involved in mentoring incubator companies, creating a pipeline of entrepreneurs through innovative models. Dr. Kumar also helped set up and operationalize the Bangalore Bio innovation Centre, as the Head and Managing Director), a joint initiative of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.
He joined BIRAC as Managing Director in 2023. Dr. Kumar is an Internationally acclaimed thinker and advisor on Biotech Innovations and entrepreneurship.
