Jacobus de Hoop is a Senior Economist in the World Bank’s Global Poverty and Equity Practice. He supports the World Bank’s poverty work in Costa Rica and Suriname and co-leads the Gender Innovation Lab in the region. Before joining the World Bank, Jacobus de Hoop worked as a research manager at UNICEF Office of Research – Innocenti, supporting the Transfer Project. Prior to that, he worked as a researcher at the International Labour Organization, was affiliated with the Paris School of Economics as a Marie Curie post-doctoral fellow, and worked as a consultant for the World Bank. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the Tinbergen Institute and VU University in Amsterdam.
