Jakob Engel is a senior economist in the Macroeconomics, Trade, and Investment Global Practice at the World Bank, based in Malawi. His expertise is in trade policy, political economy, distributional analysis, regional integration, and commodity markets. He is the author of numerous research reports, journal articles, and chapters in edited volumes. Before joining the World Bank, he worked for the UK Department for International Development, the Overseas Development Institute, and the Smith School for Enterprise and Environment at the University of Oxford.
