Janmejay Singh is the Practice Manager for Social Development in the World Bank’s South Asia Region. He oversees the operational and analytical work program on a range of social development issues in the India and Afghanistan portfolios. He was formerly worked in a similar capacity as Practice Manager in the East Asia and Pacific Region.
In previous assignments, Janmejay worked as the Engagement Leader for Citizen Engagement and Social Inclusion in the Afghanistan program of the World Bank. During that time, he served as the Task Team Leader for the $800 million Citizens' Charter Afghanistan Project and the Women’s Economic Empowerment Rural Development Projects. Following the Arab Spring he was also part of the core team that developed the World Bank’s new strategy for the Middle East and North Africa region as Senior Strategy and Operations Officer. Prior to that he served as the Global Coordinator for Community Driven Development (CDD) community of practice, which includes over a thousand development, NGO, and government professionals working in the CDD field from over 90 countries.
