Jean Saint-Geours is a Senior Economist in the South Asia region team of the Agriculture and Food Global Practice (AGF GP). He is notably the Task Team Leader of the Resilience, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Improvement Project, which builds on the work carried out by the Nuton Jibon Livelihood Improvement Project to improve the livelihoods of the poor and extreme poor in rural areas of Bangladesh. Jean joined the AGF GP in 2020 from the IFC. In his previous role as Global Lead for Agribusiness at the Finance, Competitiveness, and Innovation Global Practice, he developed and implemented the Agribusiness Deep Dive methodology to scope and design World Bank and IFC agribusiness development projects and to inform IFC’s Country Private Sector Diagnostics in sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Middle East and North Africa. Prior to joining the WBG, Jean worked in the private sector, in management consulting and the fast-moving consumer goods industry. He holds a master’s degree in management from ESCP Europe and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
