Dr. Jenevieve Mannell is a Lecturer at University College London’s Institute for Global Health. Her current research focuses on understanding the capacity of communities to address gender and health issues in low-income contexts with a particular interest in Gender-based Violence (GBV) and HIV/AIDS. She is the Principal Investigator for the GAP Project - a participatory action research intervention to prevent gender violence led by community health workers in the Peruvian Amazon funded by the South African Medical Research Council and World Bank Group, and for a methodological project exploring innovative qualitative methods for randomized controlled trials in India and Bangladesh funded by the Academy of Medical Sciences and Wellcome Trust. Before joining academia, Dr. Mannell spent 10 years as a gender consultant to the health sector with clients including UNAIDS, Unilever and the Canadian Cancer Society. She has lived and worked in Bangladesh, Canada, Rwanda, South Africa and the UK.
