Jia Li is senior economist with the Climate Change Group. Her work currently focuses on climate adaptation and resilience assessment at various scales - from investment projects to national diagnostic analysis, climate risk stress testing, and economic analysis of climate resilience and decarbonization. She co-leads the Resilience Rating System work, supports the Country Climate and Development Reports and the development of metrics to evaluate resilience and decarbonization performance of investments. Prior to joining the World Bank, Jia worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for 10 years on climate economics, energy and climate policy, climate impacts and adaptation modeling. She served as Deputy Associate Director for Energy and Climate at the White House Council on Environmental Quality (2013 – 2014), and co-chair of Social Science Coordinating Committee of the U.S. Global Change Research Program to advance interdisciplinary research of climate change and decision support. Jia grew up in China. She holds a PhD in agricultural and resource economics from the University of Maryland – College Park and a M.Sc in environmental management and policy from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
