Joachim is an Economist at the South Asian unit of the Agriculture and Food Practice of the World Bank; based in the Bhutan Country Office. He is a PhD-trained agricultural economist with a strong analytical and empirical background.
In his current work program, Joachim is supporting the policy dialogue om policies and investments in rural and agricultural systems of Bhutan through analytical work and technical assistance. In Bhutan and Nepal, he is also supporting the implementation of several agricultural projects, with a focus on designing and implementing rigorous M&E systems and impact evaluations.
Joachim joined the World Bank Group as Young Professional in 2019 and first worked at the Sustainable Development unit of IEG and later at the Economics and Private Sector Development department of the IFC. Before joining the World Bank, he has been working as an independent consultant for the World Bank, the International Food Policy Research Institute, and the World Food Program; and a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Leuven. His work experience spanned across Tanzania, Ivory Coast and Ethiopia.
