Joana Forte is an infrastructure specialist with experience in the WASH, education, and health sectors. She has worked in Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as Nepal and Brazil. Joana is an architect with a PhD degree and has over 12 years of experience working for multiple organizations. Her work includes supporting projects related to infrastructure, strategic planning, capacity building, governance strengthening, private sector development, and social and sustainable urban and rural development. Joana is a native Portuguese speaker. Over the past 18 months, Joana has been part of a team that developed a "WASH in educational and healthcare settings Toolkit" for The World Bank, and she is currently leading its implementation in both Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe. Additionally, Joana is involved in the initiative on Lake-wide Inclusive Sanitation in Lake Victoria.
