Jocelyn West is a DRM Consultant with the Innovation Lab in the World Bank’s Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR), where she supports Understanding Risk and the Open Data for Resilience Initiative (OpenDRI). With a background spanning geological science and international development, Jocelyn focuses on best practices for translating and communicating scientific analysis on disaster risk and climate change for non-scientists. Prior to joining GFDRR, Jocelyn worked on earthquake research in Nepal and Indonesia, communications for the Center for Global Development, and rainforest conservation in the Amazon. A U.S. national, Jocelyn has worked internationally in Singapore, Nepal, Indonesia, Dominica, and Peru, and is proficient in Spanish. Jocelyn holds a degree in Geological Science and Education Policy from Brown University.
