John Rose, MD & MPH, is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon based in San Francisco, California, who serves as Associate Director of Health Policy at the Center for Health Equity in Surgery and Anesthesia (CHESA). His research focuses on the role of surgery in health system strengthening, with an emphasis on indicators for quality improvement, monitoring, and evaluation. His work has received funding from the National Institutes of Health and has been featured in landmark initiatives from the Lancet, World Bank, and World Health Organization. Current projects include the development of surgical data ecosystems in Low-and-Middle-Income-Countries (LMICs) and the World Bank’s Disease Control Priorities Project (4th Edition).
