John "Jack" Stein is sector director for sustainable development for the South Asia region of the World Bank. During his 30 years at the Bank, he has held a range of technical and managerial positions, covering Latin America, Africa, and South Asia. With a portfolio of $30 billion in projects across the eight countries of South Asia and 13 sectors and sub-sectors which he oversees, he is happy to admit his need for learning and desire for knowledge is unlikely to end soon.
