Jon Strand currently works as a consultant for the World Bank. He has background as a senior research economist in the Development Research Group, Environment and Energy Team, at the World Bank; as the International Monetary Fund’s principal environmental economist; and as Professor of Economics at the University of Oslo, from where he has his Ph. D. degree. His research focuses on environmental, climate and energy analysis and policy, environmental and natural resource valuation, including valuation and policy analysis for rainforests, and he has published widely in these areas. Much of his recent research has focused on analysis of the Amazon rainforest, and on climate policy issues related to the Paris Agreement, including climate finance and carbon pricing issues, and solutions for international aviation and maritime transport sectors.
