Dr. José Rosero Moncayo is the Director of the Statistics Division and Chief Statistician in FAO based in Rome-Italy. He holds a master´s degree in economics of development and a Ph.D. in economics from Amsterdam University. He has served as Executive Director of the National Institute of Censuses and Statistics of Ecuador, as a former President of the Statistical Conference of the Americas and as member of the High Level for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In addition he also served as Vice Minister of Social Development, as Technical Secretary of the Social Front and as Coordinator of the Integrated System of Social Indicators in his home country Ecuador. Dr. Rosero has wide experience in research, social policy design and international statistics.
