José Tessada is the Chair of the Escuela de Administración (Business School) of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile since 2018 and Associate Professor since 2015. Before joining the Escuela de Administración as Assistant Professor in 2010 he worked in The Brookings Institution, a think tank in Washington DC. He also was a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Economics Department at University of Maryland-College Park. His work has been published in academic journals and collected volumes. His main areas of research are labor economics, micro, small and medium firms, and household finance. He holds a Licenciatura and a Master’s in economics from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a PhD in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
