Joseph S. Barone is currently the CEO/Chief Learning Producer for A Fool for Learning, LLC located in Silver Spring, Maryland. His role is to work with organizations to identify and deliver appropriate learning solutions, based on their business goals and objectives. In addition, he is working with the SP Singh School in Dalippur, Bihar (India) testing a variety of simplified learning solutions to improve rural education in the developing world.
Previously, he was a Senior Information Officer with The World Bank in Washington, DC from 2003 to 2019. His key responsibility was to manage the IT Learning Team, responsible for the analysis, design, delivery, facilitation and evaluation of both off-the-shelf and proprietary applications, especially during roll-outs. This included roll-outs of Windows and MS Office, as well as, Outlook. In addition, his responsibilities included: Learning Board Member (Full and Alternate); managing the Global Support Center - SAP Desk (2000-2007); managing the Bank’s online learning program/contract; and, conducting training at twenty-two Bank officers overseas. During this time he was awarded over seventeen Performance Awards for his work. Before that, he held the title of Information Office (1999-2003) and Consultant (1991-2003). During this time, he worked on the SAP implementation, the Bank’s Imaging Project and was Project Manager for the File Improvement Program. Mr. Barone was also responsible for the design, development and facilitation of various Records and Information (RIM) workshops.
Previously, he was with the Municipal Records Management Division of the New York City Department of Records and Information Services. As Coordinator of Training (1989 - 1991), he was responsible for the training of all Records and Information Management personnel in City government, editor of Right on Schedule, Health and Safety Training and liaison with the Department of Personnel Training Program.
Mr. Barone holds a BS in Elementary and Special Education from St. John's University (NYC), a MA in Social Studies Education from Hunter College (NYC) and a Professional Diploma in Training and Management Development from New York University. In addition, he has earned the rank of Eagle Scout (Boy Scouts of America), as well as, was awarded the District Award of Merit (2008).
Mr. Barone is currently involved with Scouts BSA in the following capacities: Troop 466 - Assistant Scoutmaster; Training Committee - National Catholic Committee on Scouting; and, Potomac District – Eagle Board Chair.
