Josue Banga currently works as a CEoG fellow for the office of the President of South Africa, where he supports the Chief Economic Advisor of the President and the Presidential Climate Finance Task Force in identifying innovative solutions to finance the Just Transition Transaction (JTT). He is also supporting the World Bank’s Global Crisis Risk Platform (GCRP) team to identify the barriers and entry points for scaling up adaptation finance in Fragile and Conflict-affected States (FCS).
Josue has also worked for the Africa Desk of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), where he provided co-development and stakeholder engagement support to National Designated Authorities (NDAs) and Direct Access Entities (DAEs) to help them build their capacity, elaborate strategic frameworks, develop their policies, and generate a pipeline of quality concept notes.
Josue Banga holds a PhD in economics from the University of Grenoble Alpes and a certificate of political sciences from Sciences Po Lyon. His research interests include climate finance, climate risks, green bonds, and just transition.
