Joumana Cobein is the IFC Head for the Maghreb (Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria), based in Rabat. As country head for Morocco, from 2007 to 2010, she took IFC investments to record levels in the country and previously established one of IFC’s first advisory services in the Middle East and North Africa. In addition to her experience as investment officer, Joumana worked at the World Bank as financial sector specialist, focusing on financial institutions resolution efforts as part of the task force formed to deal with the financial crisis of 1998-1999, and also worked on financial sector reforms in MENA countries. Prior to joining the Bank Group in 1997 in the Young Professionals Program, she served as a senior consultant for Deloitte & Touche in Paris, providing services to leading French financial institutions and banks in emerging markets. She also worked as a financial economist with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in Paris. Joumana holds a Master’s degree in finance and banking and another Master’s degree in international economics from the Sorbonne, Dauphine University in Paris.
