Juan Diego Alonso is a Senior Economist working for the Education Division of the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Region of the World Bank Group (HLCED). He is currently based in Buenos Aires, covering Paraguay and Argentina. Juan Diego has been at the Bank for 15 years now, leading both investment financing operations and analytic and advisory services for the education sector across three regions: LAC, Africa, and Europe and Central Asia. On top of his country-related work, Juan Diego is part of HLCED’s Portfolio Quality and COVID-19 Task Force teams. Juan Diego holds a Ph.D. in Economics and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
