Juan Manuel Monroy

Juan Manuel Monroy is a consultant with the World Bank's Poverty and Equity Global Practice Group, based in Washington, DC. He joined the Bank in 2021, where he has been supporting the Colombian program. Additionally, he has contributed to the Equity Policy Lab (EPL), focusing on projects that involve fiscal and climate change microsimulation tools, as well as methodologies for adjusting top incomes in household surveys across Ecuador, Mauritius, Madagascar, Liberia and Kazakhstan.

Juan Manuel brings extensive experience in poverty, education, and inequality analysis, having collaborated with international organizations such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). In Colombia, he has held research positions at Fedesarrollo, Universidad de los Andes, and Universidad del Rosario. He holds both a bachelor's and a master's degree in economics from the National University of Colombia in Bogotá.
