Julia Oliver is a communications officer for the World Bank's Governance Global Practice. Previously, she worked with the Bank Group's Trade & Competitiveness and Macroeconomics & Fiscal Management Global Practices. She was a newspaper journalist for eight years, covering local government in Maryland and North Carolina. She served as a health volunteer in the U.S. Peace Corps in Senegal and has worked on development-related projects in Mexico, Peru, El Salvador, and Myanmar. She holds an MA in international economics and international development from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a BA in comparative literature from Brown University.
