Julie Babinard is a Senior Transport Specialist in the Transport Unit of the Transport, Water and Information and Communication Technology Department of the World Bank. Her research, publications and operational experience focus on inclusion, employment, health and environmental aspects of transport operations. She also coordinates the Transport for Social Responsibility Thematic Group which aims to develop guidance and good practice for optimizing the social and environmental benefits of the sector’s policies and investments. Ms. Babinard holds a Master’s in International Policy Studies from Stanford University with a background in environmental and natural resource economics. She has published a number of papers, chapters and strategy notes on international development economics topics, including transport and access issues. Prior to joining the Bank in 2001, she worked as a researcher for the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University, California, and at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), Washington DC.
