Jonathan Coony is a Sr Climate Finance Specialist at the World Bank where he focuses on the deployment of climate finance for climate and clean energy transitions.
Previously, Jonathan was Global Lead for Green Competitiveness where he led the World Bank’s support for private activity in climate markets. He also served as Program Coordinator of the World Bank Climate Technology Program (CTP) which, under his leadership, grew from ideation to a global network of eight Climate Innovation Centers supporting more than 400 cleantech companies to grow.
Prior to joining the Bank, Jonathan worked at the International Energy Agency (IEA) where he advised country governments on effective energy policies. He was also a financial consultant who helped structure more than 20 project finance deals for independent power projects. To start his career, Jonathan developed an ocean clean energy and cooling technology.
Jonathan holds an MBA from INSEAD (France), and MS and BS degrees in engineering from Brown University (USA) and has two U.S. patents in clean ocean energy technology.
