Kamakshi is a Senior Social Development Specialist in the South Asia Region at the World Bank and serves as the Coordinator for Social Sustainability and Inclusion (SSI) in the Pakistan country program. She joined the World Bank in 2015 and has worked across several regions including West Africa, East Asia and the Pacific, South Asia, and Europe. Her work has focused on managing social risks and meaningful engagement of stakeholders in World Bank projects; strengthening of national institutions and capacity in these areas for sustainable outcomes; and leading analytical programs on the inclusion of women, vulnerable groups, and citizen voice in development processes to inform projects and policy in client countries. Before joining the World Bank, she managed social risk dimensions in a post-civil war urban development program for the Government of Sri Lanka. Kamakshi, a Sri Lankan national, holds a doctorate in human geography from the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, and a Bachelors (Honors) degree in geography and environmental studies from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
