Kanthan Shankar has over two decades of experience in post-conflict reconstruction operations at the World Bank. Prior to his current position, he was the country manager for the institution’s first office in Myanmar. He has also served as the Operations Manager for the Pacific Islands, Timor Leste and Papua New Guinea, and the Bank’s representative in Kosovo. Earlier, he managed numerous projects in the West Bank and Gaza, Iran, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, as well as Russia, Azerbaijan and Belarus.
Mr. Shankar holds engineering degrees from India and the United States. He also worked as an engineering consultant in those two countries before joining the World Bank.
