Katarina Barunica Spoljaric is a Sustainable Urban Planning Associate at the Energy Department of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). In this position, Katarina coordinates UNIDO’s Sustainable Cities portfolio, with a total value of over US$ 150 million. Her areas of expertise include integrated urban planning, mainstreaming resilience in all dimensions of development, and renewable energy technologies. She works closely with developing countries and cities in South Asia and Southeast Asia in their efforts to develop an integrated approach to urban planning and management.
Prior to joining the UNIDO, Katarina worked with the private sector in the Netherlands, Croatia and Austria, as well as in the Mayor’s office of the City of Zagreb, Croatia. Katarina is a graduate of the University of Vienna, Austria, with a Master’s degree in Architectural and Urban Development; she is also a PHD candidate at the Technical University of Vienna.
