Kate Philp is an Environmental Engineer based in Singapore in the World Bank’s East Asia and Pacific Region. She has more than ten years of multi-sectoral experience in waste management, plastics analytics and policy, environmental management and impact assessment in Southeast Asia and Australia. Since 2019, she has supported implementation of the World Bank’s regional marine plastics strategy. This has included technical oversight and support to activities at the regional level with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and at the country level in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines. Kate is also working on ecotourism activities in the region, with a focus on Cambodia, and recently started supporting projects on implementation of The World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESF). Kate holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Development from the University of Sussex and Bachelor’s degrees in Environmental Engineering and Physics from the University of Western Australia.
