Kathy Lindert, Lead Economist, World Bank Group

Kathy Lindert is the World Bank’s Global Lead for the Delivery Systems group in the Social Protection & Jobs Global Practice.  She has worked in the World Bank for 25 years in Latin America, Europe & Central Asia, North Africa, and globally. Kathy spent five years working at the World Bank's Office in Brazil, where she managed our partnership with the Bolsa Familia Program. She also served as Sector Manager for Social Protection for the Europe & Central Asia Region.  She has authored papers on social safety nets, poverty, social spending, redistribution and transfers, the Nuts and Bolts of Brazil's Bolsa Familia Program, political economy and the media's treatment of social policy in Brazil, social registries, the US welfare system, decentralized implementation of CCTs, and food subsidy reform.  She has a Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from the University of California at Davis, and a B.A. in International Economics from the American University of Paris.
