Dr. Katya Vasilaky is an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics, Orfalea College of Business, California State Polytechnic University and Research Affiliate at the Climate School at Columbia University. She has over a decade of research in experimental and development economics, having designed and implemented field experiments in Sub-Saharan Africa, India, Central and North America, and East Asia. In her work she focuses on how groups, social networks, and cultural dynamics influence individual behavior, particularly in technology adoption, and how that differs by gender. She also conducts research at the intersection of data science and econometrics in which she studies bias correction methods that can influence how choices are presented to individuals.
