Kazumi Inden, MA, MPH, is a Health Specialist at the World Bank, based in Washington, DC. She has been working to enhance the global UHC movement through the International Health Partnerships for Universal Health Coverage 2030 (UHC2030), strategically linking with the World Bank’s country engagement and its operations for health systems strengthening and emergency preparedness and response in Ghana, Sierra Leone and Togo. She co-led UHC2030’s Technical Working Group on UHC in Fragile Settings to advocate the fragility agenda to be incorporated into the UHC Political Declaration. Prior to joining the Bank, she worked for UNCEF in Chad, Ethiopia, India, Malawi and Sierra Leone, where she gained diverse field experience in both development and emergency operations. Kazumi also worked for Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE) based in Tokyo, where she coordinated various stakeholders to make recommendations for UHC in the post-Ebola era to the world leaders at the 2016 G7 Ise-Shima Summit in Japan. Kazumi holds a Master of Arts degree from the National University of Malaysia in Malaysia and a Master of Public Health degree from the George Washington University in US. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Public Health Program at Johns Hopkins University in US.
