Kirsten Mathieson is Head of Policy and Advocacy, Health and Nutrition at Save the Children International where she provides leadership for health and nutrition advocacy and policy efforts across the organisation. Her work focuses on Universal Health Coverage, equitable access to services, fair financing and reducing malnutrition. She is a member of the Gavi CSO Steering Committee, supporting global CSO engagement in immunisation policy.
Previously with Save the Children UK she drove the development and delivery of health advocacy strategies, leading a team to deliver advocacy work on UHC, primary health care, immunisation and access to medicines, as well as around key global moments. She also led on strategic partnerships and collaboration with key stakeholders and was on the Steering Committee of the UK Action for Global Health network. Kirsten previously worked at the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN and with UNDP in Kenya where she worked on a range of gender, social equity and health projects. She has an MA in development studies from the University of Rome and an Honours BA in Political Science from the University of Western Ontario, Canada. Her recent publications include COVID-19 and the Case for Universal Health Coverage: Build back better to deliver health for all and Fighting for Breath Call to Action.
