Mr. Koji Nishida is Senior Energy Specialist of the World Bank stationed in Vienna office, leading various investment lending and technical assistance projects in electricity sectors in the East Europe and Central Asia region, covering Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Moldova among others. In Uzbekistan, Koji leads transmission and distribution projects based utilizing his power engineering background. Technical topics Koji covers include: power system planning; transmission design; renewable energy grid integration; regional electricity market integration; HVDC; and Smart Grid technologies. Prior to joining the Bank in 2014, Koji had worked for 13 years for the Japanese vertically integrated power utility, Kansai Electric Power, as a power engineer engaged in power system planning, electricity market reforms, and transmission design, operation, construction, and maintenance. He was also engaged in transmission projects in Southeast Asia. Koji holds Master of Engineering from Kyoto University, Japan, and Master of Business Administration from University of North Carolina, U.S.A.
