Laila Abdelkader, an Egyptian national and a mother of two girls, is a Financial Sector Specialist with the World Bank’s Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation (FCI) Global Practice (GP) based in Cairo, Egypt, and is also the GP’s local co-focal point.
Since she joined the Bank in 2004, she has been working on financial sector topics (such as MSME finance, entrepreneurship finance, housing finance, financial inclusion, and financial infrastructure) in a number of countries in the MENA region beyond Egypt, such as Jordan, Iraq and Yemen.
She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the American University in Cairo, with a Finance and Management of Information Systems specializations. She also graduated from the same university with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a Finance concentration.
