Lasse joined the IFC in 2009 as a Senior Carbon Finance Specialist. He has more than 20 years of global work experience across a range of climate change and clean energy issues at the IFC, World Bank, UNEP and two leading international energy-climate institutes. Lasse leads on IFC’s carbon-related advisory work with FIs, on development of carbon-linked bonds, and on the corporate engagement in the clean cooking space. Prior to joining IFC, Lasse was Transactions Team Leader in the World Bank Carbon Finance Unit. During this assignment, the transactions team structured and concluded more than 80 carbon off-take agreements, for a total commitment of more than US$ 540M. Lasse has served in various advisory capacities, including as member of the UN panel which originally developed methodologies for small-size clean energy projects, and has published widely on energy, climate and environmental issues. Lasse has a Ph.D. in environmental regulation from the European University Institute, and was a visiting scholar at MIT, which he attended as a Fulbright Scholar. Upon obtaining his Master’s, he joined the Danish Foreign Service. He has lived and worked in Denmark, Italy, Norway and the US.
