Laura is currently a Senior Water Resources Management specialist in the Eastern and Southern Africa team, where she works in Sudan, Ethiopia, and Mozambique – both on operations in irrigation and water resources management, and analytical work on climate change, resilience, and water security. She has spent the last 6 years working on water resources management in Africa, mostly in fragile countries and the Sahel region. Prior to this, she worked in the Office of the Sustainable Development Chief Economist and in the Climate Group, where she specialized in decision support. Laura helps teams use analysis and stakeholder engagement to design long-term plans and projects, despite uncertainty about climate change and other factors, and amid complex stakeholder interests. Prior to joining the World Bank, Laura was a researcher at the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei in Italy, and before that, she worked on irrigation management and rural development projects in the Middle East, Africa, and Central America. Laura holds a PhD in Climate Change Economics from the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, Italy, a MSc in Irrigation and Water Management from the University of Wageningen, and a MA in Social Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh.
